On April 28, 2022, WAMS opened its new Play Group Plus program. PGP is a collaboration with the Worcester Family Partnership and runs in a big community room at the Main South CDC, 875 Main Street in Worcester, which is providing the space without charge for the benefit of the community. PGP was created in response to the comment of a local school Principal that many children start kindergarten unprepared for the structure and the educational activities. The program is an opportunity for parents/caregivers and their children ages two to five to come together with other families and skilled early educators to practice social skills, classroom behavior such as reading circle time, and early number and letter concepts. It is open to all families. Staff members are bilingual Spanish/English. PGP meets every Thursday morning, from 9:45 to 11:30. Every child gets a new book to take home, each family receives a $10 grocery store gift card, and everyone enjoys a healthy lunch to eat in or take home.
