During the weekend of February 3rd and 4th, the City of Worcester was expected to reach temperatures below zero. City officials announced a temporary, emergency overnight warming center at the Worcester Senior Center, located at 128 Providence Street, open to the public to support residents.
The temporary warming center was staffed throughout its hours of operation by a combination of members of the Department of Emergency Management and volunteers from the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
WAMS Exec Director Karen Ludington helped set up a warming center at the Worcester Senior Center in prep for frigid temperatures Friday evening and volunteered on Saturday.
